Two Months

We realize it's been a while since we've been on here. Between Amanda going back to work, Jake not sleeping through the night yet, drilling with the National Guard, Christmas festivities, end of the semester stuff, etc, it's been a busy month.

Jake turned 2 months last Tuesday, so we wanted to post the latest update, with a few pictures to compare:

He now weighs 10'5 ounces, and is 22 1/2 long. Still a little small, but given that he's gained 3 pounds in a month, we're happy.

1 month

Jacob had his one-month check-up today. He weighed 7'13 1/2 and was 21 1/4 inches long. He usually goes to bed around 10pm or so and wakes up every four hours or so at night. Caitlyn helps out when she can, but is still adjusting to having a little brother. It leaves her worn out every now and then:Halloween was interesting. We took them both to CCG for their fall festival. Caitlyn went as a clown, and was the only child I saw with actual face paint. Enjoy:

Orders

For all of you that have been asking or praying, it finally came. Jason received a phone call last night from his boss with his orders. BigJ will be drilling for the IN National Guard next weekend on Saturday and Sunday.
As all this is NEW to me, I have been asked "what can I do for you". In my response, I would ask for prayer. Prayer for strength, courage, peace of mind, rest, fear of unknown, patience (will be taking care of littleJ and C), understanding, etc.
As Jason and I talked about our future in the military, I asked "what does a military wife do?". Now, comes all the ?questions? (BigJ responded that I should talk with a Chaplain's wife and get involved with the military wife group.) Do any of you know?
*PLS pray for all the families from Ft. Hood. Not only was one of the serviemen from IN wounded, but come to find out one from IN died in the attack.*
Thanks for your prayers and support, they mean so much!
Amanda (PROUD wife.... Thank you J for serving. Pro Deo et Patria)

2 wk Update

Caitlyn loves to help care for Jacob, she is a Great Big Sister!

Jacob had another doctor appointment today and all is going well (almost). He now weighs in at 7lb6oz and is 20 1/4in. long. He is now over his birth weight of 7lb3oz.! Doctor states that Jacob is growing well and he can not believe that Jacob is over his birth weight at 2wks. God has been so great these last two weeks and I am one happy mommy.
There is only one little tiny concern that Jacob has, but will be corrected at his 1mo. appointment. His circumcision needs to be pulled and the healing process will need to be started over. Poor little man, just when you think all is going well.
So, at the next appointment in little over two weeks the doctor will have to pull the circumcision since it did not heal properly. Doctor states that it looks good, but they can never predict how it will heal and sometimes they have to be pulled. It is either do now with little pain and no cost or have it done later with pain and cost. NO numbing this time.....meaning that I will once again be the crying mommy (he won't remember).

PLEASE pray for me (Mommy).
I am having a rough day two and not being able to bond with Jacob, hold Jacob, or feed Jacob (pumping) is killing me.
Jacob has been in the NICU since he was born.
Thanks,
Amanda

BabyJ Update II

I can now say that I am ready for BabyJ to make his arrival any moment (not looking forward to all the pain, but I know I have an epidural coming!).
Monday, I spent four plus hours cleaning the house and then I helped Justin and Jason lay two huge patio bricks. As JW stated he "would never believe a woman so close to delivering a baby would be out helping like this, unless he saw it with his own eyes" (he did!). I am not the type to sit around and watch others work; I am not disabled, I am blessed to be able to carry a miracle to term. After JW left, we cleaned the swing, two car seats, and bassinet. If I had not done enough for the day, I then went through more clothes for BabyJ.
Today, I had a doctor appointment. After being checked I was told that I am 3cm dilated, 50% effaced, and the doctor could feel BabyJ head! I told the nurse that I feel weird walking around knowing that the head is only fingers length from coming out and being dilated to 3 (in my terms: open for business). I see it as less work in the end!!!
So, until either the next doctor appointment (Tues.) or I have BabyJ, have a wonderful day.
One prayer request.....That I might have a smooth labor/delivery of BabyJ.
Thanks!
PS: Now I have to go pack Caitlyn's bag, and finish packing my bag. Any suggestions on what I should pack besides the essentials. I did pack a roll of soft t.p. (Charmin) and snacks (cookies!).

BIG thanks!

Thanks to all my family and friends that were able to make the BIG SURPRISE BABY SHOWER! I enjoyed every moment of the Surprise and most of all enjoyed our time together to celebrate the life of Jacob. Thanks for your love, support, and friendship. ONLY 17 more days until we all get to meet the little man. Until then.....thanks again and I love you all.
Amanda

Thanks to Gretchen, Kerry, and all the others who contributed. As we were driving home, Amanda couldn't stop talking about how pleased she was about the party.

Ultrasound Update

First, thanks for the prayers.
Second, the ultrasound went well!
Now, I feel more at ease!
Anyway, back to the ultrasound what u really want to hear about. Well, it went well and by all the measurements I am four days behind my EDD (35 wks, 6d). BabyJ on the other hand moved throughout the appointment as usual. He has chubby cheeks, a little bit of hair on the back of his head (J states he is taking after daddy), had a FULL bladder, weighs (estimate) 6lb 4oz. From what the ultrasound tech. stated everything looks okay!
Thanks again for the prayers,
Amanda

BabyJ Update!

Exciting news! We had a doc. appt. today everything is going okay. I am measuring 1cm and thinning to where doctor can feel BabyJ head. ONLY one issue I am measuring small at this point (guess u all were right about me being small, but I feel HUGE).... PLEASE pray that BabyJ is growing well inside the uterus and that I am just measuring small at this point. BabyJ heart sounds great, and I am doing fine. We have an ultrasound scheduled for Fri. at 3pm, so we will know and see more then.

Thanks,
Amanda

WOW!

ONLY 30 days people, 30 days till go time!
I have to admit that I am starting to get nervous about the delivery part.....I can not remember all the PAIN. It may be because I fell in love with C all over again the moment I saw her on my tummy. BUT, it is to late to look back. BabyJ has to come out some how and no one besides myself can do it. Go me! And, some good drugs too!!!

Wild Wednesday

In honor of the start of the NFL season.
The 11th Commandment- Though shalt not fumble the handoff.
I gotta think the angels would have a better offensive line and keep Jesus protected, but the New England Satans can be deceptive.

Fifty

http://news.bbc.co.uk/media/images/40323000/jpg/_40323351_wk24_1.jpg

That is right OhMyGosh...
ONLY 50 short days or so until we get to meet our little man!
I have to thank the Lord above for such a wonderful pregnancy up to this point, I see pregnancy as a privilege that us women get to enjoy. And, I am so blessed that God has entrusted in me to carry our little man. What a miracle to carry a life into the world! Jer. 1:5 "Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, and before you were born I consecrated you"
Amanda

To my little man:
I love you J.E.B.!

Mullet Monday

I don't watch the show, but I could see Mad Men using a mullet campaign. Makes me want to use the gigante express.
